What is Ayurveda - The Science of Life?
Jerry Gore, M.D.
Ayurveda is known as the science of life, or the science of longevity. It has taken the five-element theory and folded them into a practical explanation of physical reality known as tri-datu: earth, fire and air. These elements are said to support or underlie our physical existence. Each has unique properties and in people, become organized into specific constitutional “types”:
-
Kapha-earth (cold, wet, stable)
-
Pita-fire (hot, oily, intense)
-
Vata-air (cold, dry, irregular)
There are also kaphic, pitic, and vatic times of the day, seasons of the year, and stages of life. Imbalances in your type can result in dis-harmony and eventually, disease. Let’s discover your constitution, try to avoid imbalances, and refine your health with simple life style changes involving diet, excersices and hints for living that fit your specific type. We will have some additional fun explaining why a Kapha marries a Vata etc, and try to answer your personal questions.
